The Intimidating TBR Pile Tag

THEINTIMIDATINGTBRPILETAG

I saw this on the  Bionic Book Worm blog and thought I would give it a try.  I believe that the creator of this book tag is Lindsey Rey. This will be my first Book Tag post so I am really excited! I also wanted to do this because my TBR pile is huge and I wanted to talk about some of the books on there and some that I took off.

A BOOK ON YOUR TBR PILE THAT YOU JUST HAVEN’T FINISHED

It would definitely have to be The Other Typist: A Novel by  Suzanne Rindell.

I thought that I would love this book because it has the time setting of the 1920’s and talks about jazz music and speakeasies. It was in the time frame of when women had the cool and interesting jobs as typists and where they would cut their hair short and smoke. I love the 20’s, I just couldn’t get through the book because I felt like it was dragging and I guess I didn’t like the writing style either. This book just left me disappointed and unsatisfied. I hate not finishing a book for any reason but I couldn’t help it with this one. My mom took the copy from me and it is now in her possession.

A BOOK YOU JUST HAVEN’T HAD THE TIME TO READ AND HAVE SADLY NEGLECTED

Hmm, I would have to say that there are a lot of books I have neglected to read and it is really sad. Although I will only mention the two series I feel I have most neglected because I have had them for years. I just keep forgetting about them. It doesn’t help that they are in a tub with other books under my bed. So technically, it’s not my fault because you know the saying “out of sight, out of mind”.  The first one is The Giver Quartet Omnibus by Lois Lowry.

The second series I have also neglected pretty badly is The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld.

A BOOK YOU HAVEN’T READ BECAUSE IT’S IN A SERIES OR IS A SEQUEL

Alright, well I have already mentioned these two before on my blog, on my last post because I just got them and I didn’t realize that both of these books are in a series and both happen to be book #2 until I got home with them and looked it up. Here is the link to that other post:

The first one is called The Spiritglass Charade ( A Stoker & Holmes Novel ) by  Colleen Gleason.

The second one is called The Mirk and Midnight Hour by Jane Nickerson Jane Nickerson.

A BOOK YOU HAVEN’T READ BECAUSE YOU JUST BOUGHT IT

This book seems really interesting to me and I am so glad I bought it. The book is called The Way We Bared Our Souls by Willa Strayhorn. I haven’t read this one because I just bought it Thursday, but I do plan on reading it after I am done reading The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin.

A BOOK BY AN AUTHOR YOU READ PREVIOUSLY BUT DIDN’T REALLY LIKE ALL THAT MUCH (THERE IS NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF)

I was really disappointed with this one and it went onto my DNF list. So it’s called You Suck by  Christopher Moore. I had heard really great things about his writing so I checked out the audiobook from my library of  A Dirty Job: A Novel by him and I liked it. Although I wasn’t able to finish it before it was due, what I read of it was hilarious. So when I saw You Suck at my local Goodwill I got it but I started to read it and was like WHAT?! I couldn’t even get past the first 20 some pages because I couldn’t stand the two main characters. Which really sucks.

A BOOK ON YOUR TBR PILE THAT YOU’RE JUST NOT IN THE MOOD TO READ AT THE MOMENT

Ha! This one is just too funny to talk about because I haven’t been in the mood for since the beginning of March 2017. First of all the book is just peculiarly unique and strange like The X-Files TV show but mixed with random adultery with things to do with an occult. Normally, I am alright with weird stuff, but it is really out there and that’s saying something for me to remark that about it because I love The X-Files. It’s called Jago by Kim Newman.  Just read it and you’ll know why I’ve just been like ‘ nah, not today’ for months now. I love horror books too and this one I am just like, what the actual hell?

A BOOK ON YOUR TBR PILE THAT YOU HAVEN’T READ BECAUSE IT’S HUGE

I borrowed the first book in this series from a friend and it felt like it took me FOREVER to finish it and I’m a fast reader so I am kinda hesitant to read the second book. Which is called Eldest ( Inheritance Cycle, Book 2 ) by Christopher Paolini. It is only 704 pages and I’ve read bigger books, but I am worried that this book will be like the first.

A BOOK ON YOUR TBR THAT YOU BOUGHT BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE COVER LOOKED

I had to think really hard on this one and it’s because I normally don’t buy books this  way but I did, in fact, do it with this book. Well sorta, I mean I saw the book cover and was like ‘what’s this about?’ Then I looked at the back cover and it sounded good… so a pretty cool cover with pretty cool innards. This is also a book I found at my local Dollar Tree, I always seem to hit the jackpot there. The book is called Threats: A Novel by Amelia Gray.  I mean, don’t you want to know what it is about?

THE BOOK ON YOUR TBR THAT YOU ARE MOST INTIMIDATED BY

Saved the most interesting one for last! It’s called The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through The Madness Industry by Jon Ronson.  The reason for my intimidation is because what if I have some of the traits? I mean at first I thought it would be interesting to see what is considered a psychopath but now I don’t know when I will read it for my irrational fear has gripped me for no reason at all.  I will have to read it eventually because it was a gift that I happened to ask for. I mean I have to get over this ridiculous irrational fear because I am probably missing out on an amazing book.

I really thought this tag was interesting, especially as my first one. What happens to be the book or books that intimidate you the most out of all? Comment down below, if you are willing to share. Well, have a good weekend everyone! If you don’t want to do this book tag, you don’t have to. Everyone is invited to do the tag if you wish. Let me know in the comments below if you do it so I can check it out! I love visiting other peoples blogs.  😉 🙂 Have fun!!!

That was a fun tag. Yes, having books in a tub under your bed is definitely going to lead to some neglect. It sounds like you have a book-shelf deficiency like everyone else I know. And the cover of Threats is amazing! So original. I hope it’s good. Happy Reading. 🙂
