Burn It Down (Made Men Book 2) by [Peony, Sophia]

***** This was an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ******

When I started reading this I knew that things were going to be a little confusing since I didn’t get to read the first book before reading this one so I had to get my bearings.  First of all, there are going to be family members that no one likes, I’m just going to be real. In a book where there are mob families as thick as this, you are going to see, some types you don’t want to see and I didn’t even finish the book.

So let me tell you why I didn’t finish the book. I didn’t think that this book would be in the thick of mob territory as it is. I have never read a book like this and I give the author props for making a book seem so much like the real thing that I didn’t care for it. I feel like I couldn’t get past that part because it is the majority of the books innards besides the romance.

Now the romance is good too. Don’t get me wrong the romance between the couple is there and I can feel it. I liked how Leo’s love was shown even though he is in a crime family business. YOU even see the love between the family and that is nice too.

You see the schemes going on in the background in other crime families. Aka the enemies and everything. This book is chocked full of mystery of what will they do next, who will back stack next, all of the things that are not for me. I just think that the author really loves writing these kinds of books and must research the hell out of them too because it seems pretty accurate on how crime families would be.

I hope you liked my review on this book. Thank you for reading.

Blurb: Amelia’s heart is torn between the new, the old and the familiar but when her heart screams out what it wants, Amelia listens. It’s not always easy since a conflicted heart wants different things on different days, but she finds a way to work around her indecisiveness and focus on what she needs- what she thinks she can’t live without.

The closer Amelia gets to figuring out her love life, the more Hawk unravels. While he deals with loose ends and new threats, his strategic plans start to fall into place. Pawns advance, the King’s in the ideal position and the Rook hosts the Mad Lib Auction. What he doesn’t expect is for his Queen to be in danger and for Knights to steal hearts.

**** I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. ****

Okay so when the first book ended the way it did, I needed this book as soon as possible and I got it from Sonya right away just by emailing her. I just had to know what was going to happen next with Lia and the craziness of her life that included Hawk.Things got real interesting fast.

As soon as the book started I was pulled in because Lia was being pulled in different directions right away. Feelings were being spilled and she didn’t know what to do. Hell, she still had to figure out her own. Once she does, everything turns into chaos and Hawk goes mad. Madder than the mad hatter and it isn’t cool.

Something bad happens to Lia because someone is after her and everyone is trying to figure out who it is. Is it a friend? One of the men after her love? Is it Hawk? Who is it? Well, whoever it is they are done with the pranks and are out to kill. Who said college was all about learning and life and sometimes falling in love?

There is so much going on in this book and I absolutely love it. I didn’t think that the second book could get any better but it did. I couldn’t get enough of the book with all the twists and turns. Also with everyone finally getting their feelings together and figured out.

I adore the progress where Lia and Robins are at but of course I would love more. I will always love more of these two. They are just the best!

The way the book ended was even more of a shocker than how the first book ended! Like fall out of my chair shocker. Like whaaaa? Babam, no thank you ma’am.  I expected the last half, but not the first half Sonya.  Although I suppose upon further reflection it makes sense, but wooo give a girl some warning something’s gonna happen.

Now, I have to wait until the next book is out and what is a girl to do with an ending like that? I mean, for real?

Blurb:  Amelia’s past issues and personal time limits propel her into a relationship that alters her normal life at Westbrook University. Connor, her new potential boyfriend, triggers jealousy, rehashes old relationships, sparks new ones, and ignites a rage in others that will devastate her ordinary life. As she desperately tries to hold on to her pre-Connor life, she struggles to balance the new-found attention while trying to follow her heart. Something she realizes is complicated… very complicated – because her heart has no idea where it’s going.

Connor may be the change Lia is looking for, but he is certainly not the ending Hawk wants for his Queen. Hawk’s invested too much time in planning his future to let some random guy walk away with his happily ever after. He will do anything to protect her virtue, even if it means protecting her from herself because Amelia belongs to him.
He’s chosen her…
He’s watched her…
He’s studied her…
He knows everything there is to learn about her…
And when the time is right she will reign his heart.

**** I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. ****

I found this book on a facebook group where authors offer ARCS through forms. I found the blurb really interesting because I wanted to figure out who Hawk was and why he was so obsessed with Lia.  I just had to know what the big deal was and the more I read the more disturbed I was with this Hawk character.

He knows so much about her and is always around and basically stalks her but us as the reader barely know much about him. It’s creepy. He has infiltrated all parts of her life and it is so weird. He makes everything seem like a chess game. I don’t think that any of the characters have figured out that he is playing them like chess pieces and takes them out one by one when their usefulness is done.

I do have to say that this book is definitely one of a kind. There is just so much going on with the suspense between this guy Hawk and also other weird happenings going on. There are pranks and murder as well.

Lia also has so much going on with her love life that it is a wonder that she doesn’t have vertigo or whiplash.  I feel like she has so much going on and it really keeps things interesting throughout the book. Although she does seem like she isn’t sure how she feels about whom. Poor thing. So many guys and so many feelings in the way… then there is Robins… !

Oh and I really love her friendship with Robins and how he calls her Pooh Bear. There is most definitely something there between them. I hope that it works out between them because the way they are together is just the best. I ADORE them together and the chemistry is great. Ugh someone help me now ! I just love these two. If we could just clear all of the BS out of the way and get these two together that would be great. Thanks.

I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book because the ending to this one was kind of shocking but not at the same time. I just… I need more. I need these things resolved for Lia. I want things to work out. Someone please help this girl. Seriously.

Is life monotonous? Mercy certainly thinks so,
but coming home to her empty London flat after another miserable day at work, she finds she is being haunted by a pair of eyes.

Is she delusional, or is time the delusion?
Falling for a time traveler comes with plenty of surprises and a good deal of danger.

Tancred Nine is an adventure in himself, a man of startlingly strange ideas and beliefs mixed with humor and excitement. But he comes from a time where playing with genetics has gone horribly wrong.

Travelling through time tunnels can be a risky business,
which door should you take, which need to be avoided at all costs?

Follow Mercy as she abandons her timid and tedious life for the love of adventure and the most delusional creature of all.
Can Mercy help save the future of humanity, or will she lose herself in time?

Gotta Get Back In Time

*** I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review. ***

I thought that this book would be really interesting because I normally have like time travel books in the past. Plus this one has new ideas that involve altering genetics and strange creatures. Some you can see that look hideous, but some are invisible.

Although this book was so overwhelming with new ideas and information that every single page was just information dump after information dump. I felt confused and completely lost most of the time. Plus Tancred, the traveler talked in circles most of the time in his own language from the “future” which didn’t really make much sense to me or Mercy which was the girl from the past.

So I kind of felt like I was in a boat without paddles in the middle of a body of water. It was an unpleasant feeling to say the least. I guess I was just mainly disappointed because I know that this book could have been so great if it wouldn’t have jumped all over the place so much and if things were explained more. So maybe I wouldn’t be a flailing fish? I don’t know.

If the ideas would have been more spread out too this would have improved the book too and explained in extreme depth. We the readers cannot guess at these complicated things of your brilliant mind. At least not yet, we need some more background information, please.

I really did enjoy the part about the dinosaurs though. I thought that part was interesting and how they went to sites to dig them up. That was fascinating and also when they went back to see them. The descriptions of them was almost like I could see them and I really enjoyed that! So that was the only time I really enjoyed the vivid details in this book where I didn’t want to put the book down.

This just really wasn’t the type of book for me to read. Apparently, not all time travel books are for me.

❤️ More About the Book ❤

Two years ago, his kiss left her reeling, but she pushed him away and they never spoke of it again.

Lena Andrews is bad at love, and has no intention of getting better at it.

Men are good for one thing, and love isn’t it.

She’s perfectly okay with finding happiness in her job as a comic book artist.

Yet, she can’t shake the memory of her coworker’s kiss.

Amos St. Clair has stayed the hell away from Lena Andrews for the last two years.

Work has filled his time and he’s on the cusp of making a name for himself. When an opportunity to complete a project that’s dear to Lena’s heart presents itself, Amos seizes the opportunity – even if it means being with the woman he’s avoided all this time.

Through their mutual passion for art and each other, their love blooms like a lotus flower out of a dark, muddy pool. But, is their love strong enough to withstand the challenges posed by the most important job of their careers?

OH! Let me tell you y’all that this is a steamy story and I haven’t even finished it yet!!! I can’t seem to get enough of these two characters Amos and Lena. They are fascinatingly refreshing! Such Funny Little Scenes!

I just had to share that little tidbit with you.  hahaha  You’re welcome, my precious sssss sssss.

I hope you guys will check out this book! I am loving it so far! So quirky and cultured. MMMMM!! I can’t wait to see what happens with theses characters since I am almost done with the book. I am still impressed with this book being on the recommended romance list for February, but I shouldn’t be surprised because this author has talent.
